Building a custom log home is no easy task. In fact, in order to do it right, it requires dedicated time and preparation before the actual building begins. What needs to be done before building a beautiful timber or log frame home for you and your family to enjoy for years to come? Here at Town + Country Cedar Homes, we believe the preparation begins in the inspiration.
Getting inspired is the first step we encourage our homeowners to take. Spend time in the evenings sipping your favorite wine, while flipping through timber and log home magazines and tearing out pages of rooms you love. Don’t forget to make note of special features and small details that will make your home one-of-a-kind. Every details counts…you are not building a cookie cutter home; you are building a custom log home where every inch is filled with design elements you love and plan to spend a lifetime enjoying. If magazines are too old school for you, turn to the internet. Start by creating Pinterest boards for each room in your home and then fill each board with images you love. You will most likely end up with hundreds, maybe even thousands of pictures, but we believe the more inspiration, the better. We want the home to be exclusively yours! Another great place to draw inspiration from is T+C’s own gallery. We have over 50 homes featured in our gallery varying in size, style and layout. Remember, each timber or log home is custom built, so you will never see two that are identical. Nor do we want them to be identical. They are indented to be built around each family or individual’s lifestyle and needs. So be sure to mix and match features as you see fit for you. Finally, if you ever come to a roadblock and need some additional brainstorming help, get in touch with us. We live to make people’s dreams a reality!
Once you have a firm grasp on what your custom log home is going to incorporate, the next preparatory step is design. This is the phase where our conceptual designers will meet with you and turn your inspiration into realization. Each time you meet with our engineers, you will find their aspiration is to listen to your every hope and dream when it comes to your home. They truly want to step into your shoes as the future homeowner and understand your lifestyle and the environment you want to create for your new home. They will intently listen to your desires, and ask questions along the way, to make sure we are always on the same page. Our guess is, by the end of the design process, you and our design engineers will be friends. Because to us, you are not just another “customer” or “log home plan”. You are a unique individual who we want to know and help.
Once the conceptual design and drawings are finished to your utmost standards, THEN you are ready to build a custom log home. The preparation is not always quick or easy, but that’s because it is no standard home. It’s your home. Inspired, designed and built uniquely for you, by you.
