Catching the Vision For Your Custom Log Home

custom log homeYou’ve been dreaming about it for years, but now you have decided to make it a reality: your very own custom-built log home. You know it’s going to be a long road with plenty of planning and decisions to make along the way. You may feel a bit of trepidation along with excitement, but with Town and Country Cedar Homes as your builder, you can leave your worries with us. We will take care of all the tedious business, while you simply visualize exactly how you want your new home to look and feel.

Before we can begin creating the plans for your custom log home, we ask our clients to carefully contemplate two things:

  • How do you want your home to look and feel?
  • How are you going to utilize its space?

These are often two areas of consideration that get lost or overlooked by other log home builders. However, they are vital to the planning process and something T+C take very serious.

Look & Feel

look and feelBefore even purchasing your plot of land, take the time to feel out the space to determine if it’s truly the right fit for you and your family. Drive to your potential plot and imagine sitting in your future home looking out the window. Are you happy with the scenery? Can you imagine grilling steaks on the barbecue or roasting marshmallows on a fire pit? Once you’ve decided on a plot, determine which areas will receive the best light throughout the day and in what rooms would you like that light to be available. Taking the time to truly connect with the space, will make your future home feel that much more “you”.

Utilization

utilizationIt’s also of utmost importance that you think of how your home will be utilized. Where will you spend the majority of your time? If you imagine spending a large portion of your days in your home office, then perhaps you want to have a nice view to admire. In the mornings would you like to be able to step out from your bed onto a balcony and breathe in the fresh mountain air? If you love to cook, imagine how you’d like to freely move around the kitchen. If you’ll be spending hours in the kitchen cooking for your family, would you like to still feel part of the action with an open floor plan? Or would you rather hideaway the kitchen mess in an enclosed space?

Finally, don’t forget to think about WHO you will be spending your time with in your home. In the summer months, do you dream of sitting on the deck with your grown children and watching your grandchildren splash in the pool? For the holidays, would you like the whole family to gather around a fireplace in the evenings and look out into a winter wonderland? You may want to have a guestroom or two with ensuite facilities for visiting friends and family.

When it comes to the style of your home, how do you imagine the essence of your home? Perhaps you imagine a home that harks back to a 19th century Western homestead, or maybe an Austrian Alps chalet is more your style. The location of your home may also play a part in its personality. If it’s a coastal retreat you’re after, then maybe a New England seaside style will suit it well.

At Town and Country Cedar Homes, we simply ask you to not forget to do the one thing we cannot: show us what is in your mind’s eye. Communicate with us your biggest dreams and desires for your custom log home home. And once we have caught your vision, we promise we can make your dreams come true.

  • I have more questions and concerns about getting an oil-change than I do about this project.
