How often should my cedar home be restained?
A lot depends on the conditions to which your home is exposed and what stain is used, but the industry average is around three years. Exterior walls facing the South and West get more exposure to the sun and thus may need to be stained more often. To test to see if your home needs restaining, spray a small amount of water onto the log, timber or siding: if it beads up, there's no need to restain.
