STYLES
CABIN STYLE: Cabin style log homes are usually uncomplicated floor plans with a lower overall square footage. Log Cabins are much simpler in design than other wooden homes, offering few or no gables except at entrances. Mostly you will find a basic rectangular or square shape to the home. Occasionally a log cabin can have a prow shaped design. The interior design is based on efficiency and maximizing the use of space. Most have an open floor plan on the main level. Log Cabins don't always have a second level, and when they do it is usually a loft with one or two smalll sleeping areas.
COTTAGE STYLE: Traditionally a cottage style home will have a compact footprint, but elements of cottage style can also be applied to larger residences. Typical cottage homes incorporate design elements such as rounded turrets, windows, door and doorway opening. You will also see built built in amenities such as window seats. Exterior design elements might include paned windows, cedar shake siding, bead board paneling, exposed fieldstone, and trim pieces such as flower boxes or shutters. Exterior finishes are typically multi-hued.
CONTEMPORARY STYLE LOG HOMES: These log homes are above average in style, and a more sophisticated design than a large size log cabin home. These homes are typically customized for the client's lifestyle and needs. An eclectic mix of building materials will be utilized including a variety of wood species, wood staines, organic or non-organic floor finishes, wall panelings and exterior log sidings. The lod siding on the exterior may or may not including chinking. These homes may be a mixture of log siding. timbers (squared off) wood elements, cedar shake, brick, stucco, or stone. Cathedral ceilings, expansive glass elements, lofts and balconies are common.
CRAFTSMAN - TIMBER STYLE HOMES: Square timbers add visual impact to custom home design and these homes usually feature one of many styles of timber arches and trusses. The style itself originated in the early 1900's with the creation of bungelows with low-pitched, gabled or gambrel roofs. Those style elements are in Town & Country's Craftsman-Timber floor plans, where we've also included large front porches, rafter tail eaves, and stone elements on pillers, chimneys and foundations. Spectacular spaces are highlighted by plentiful, multi-paned windows and custom formed timbers are placed as either decorative or structural members of the home.
MODERN STYLE HOMES: Modern homes are particularly interesting when built with wood. These designs can range from simple to complex and from small to large. Key design elements include a wide combination of structural angles and roof lines, glass and variable finishes. Small and large spaces are designated for unexpected uses and often incorporate access and egress to outdoor living spaces. Custom window elements, mixed use of log sidings, brick, stucco or other modern exterior finishes are considered. Room spaces are not always square or rectangular, but contain flowing shapes to capture the eye.
TRADITIONAL LOG HOME STYLE: Our traditional log home floor plans feature wrap-around porches, front elevations that are symmetrical (balanced) in design. Tradditional Log Homes design evolved from pioneer style log cabins, but expand on the basic box to add multiple roof angles, gables and dormers. Homes are larger than log cabins but still offer a modest footprint. Traditional log homes will utilize log siding and timber finishes with or without chinking.
MOUNTAIN RUSTIC STYLE: Emerging in the last few decades, Mountain Rustic Style homes create a hybrid use of both log and timber elements, as well as incorporate natural organic textures. These homes will combine log siding with timber trim, cedar shake, unhewn logs with bark, rough sawn timbers and metal roofs. Rough edged trims, reclaimed timbers of all species, and distinctive, craggy roof angles abound in this style. Stone is a favored finish and design element on the exterior and interior. Clean lines are used in these moderately to large style homes.
LOG LODGE STYLE: Log Lodge style hoems are typically exceptionally large homes, picturesque and expansive in both design and living space, with a larger number of bedrooms. They leave a large footprint and need to be placed on a larger piece of property to gather the most effect of the style. Large stone fireplaces, large gathering spaces, and heavy wood paneling or siding are featured. Most homes will be rather spralling in design with multiple living levels and outdoor living spaces. Exterior finishes may be featured with or without chinking.
TOWN & COUNTRY SIGNATURE STYLE: The craftsmanship of a Town & Country Signature style home is dominant in these floor plans, which are both award-winning and unparelleled in the log home industry. These versitile floor plans lend themselves toward expansion and to finishes utilizing either log or timber elements. Common in this style are barrelled porch entrances, cedar shake gables, large king post trusses and cathedral ceilings with expansive interior cedar paneling. These homes begin at approximately 3000 sq. ft.
