Cottages are found everywhere, particularly coastal or historic communities. Classic Cottages are smaller in stature, compact floor plans and incorporate many built-in amenities. However the terminology of "cottage" design, like log cabin living, can be interpreted in a variety of ways as to size and luxury design characteristics. Town & Country custom cottage homes frequently feature cedar shake siding, bead board and colorful trim on the exteriors. Exposed fieldstone or river rock trim is also popular. Custom accessory trim pieces such as flower boxes or shutters, along with rounded or arched doorways add to the ambiance of cottage living. Cottage styles can be found in small footprint homes, as well as large luxury residences which can still exhibit quaint cottage design details.
