2,001 Square Feet in 2 levels ~ 3 Bedrooms ~ 2 Full Baths
Straight from the pages of our 'Cottage Classics Series", the Whitman Log Cottage home plan cleverly cobines the best of log and cottage elements to create a spacious home on a small footprint. We know you'll fall in love with the charming details this home has to offer. The main floor has an open flow-through patter with the living room, dining room and kitchen and also features a mud room, guest bedroom and full bath. The second floor has the master bedroom, kids bedroom and another full bath, all in just 2001 square feet.
A cobblestone walkway leads you to the welcoming front door of the Whitman. Northern White Cedar Lodge Logs are stained with a semi-transparent sage green for a slightly different take on your typical 'log' home. Local fieldstone columns, natural cedar shingles and contrasting cream trim adds the decidely 'cottage' edge the homeowner was looking for. With both styles so strongly features, we call this home a 'log cottage'.
Once inside, you're greeted with the warmth of the wood and the charm of the colorful decour. The owners wanted to open the home up to the oustide which is evident from the lush greenery out every window and door.
The hand hewn beams over the White Cedar paneling adds rustic appeal, and the floor to ceiling natural fieldstone fireplace adds just the right amount of cozy to this family-friendly room. The peek-a-boo port hole window on the stairway allows for kids (and dogs) to view friends arriving.
White Cedar Lodge Logs were used on the opposing walls of the living room, while the rest of the house is drywall with white cedar trim. This is a perfect example of the versatility of the Town & Country Wall System
Flowing through a generous archway, planked by see-through glass bookshevles, you enter the dining room floded with natural light. Here the cottage theme continues with the white cedar trim and colorful wall treatments.
A raised snack bar is the only separation to the kitchen, which is well planned, making the most use of every inch of space. Around the corner from the kitchen is a first floor laundry/mud room combination that provides a convenient entrance from the garage.
The Bedrooms are each painted a coloful hue with White Cedar trim to maintain the rustic touch.
The rear porch and deck are well thought out for gatherings of friends and family. Hand hewn log columns support an ample covered porch for shade and weather protections, while the adjacent open deck is perfect for soaking up the sun!
Just a peek of the basement daylight window can be seen in this shot. Finishing the optional basement, per our plan, provides an additional 860 square feet of living space.
